Lecturer in Graphic Design Technology
Satu Ilta graduated from the University of Art and Design Helsinki's graphic design programme in 1979, after which studied computer-aided graphic design for two years at the School of Visual Arts in New York and for shorter periods in various software houses and user environments. She is an Adobe Certified Expert in the use of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Satu Ilta has also worked in several publishing houses, taught in several design schools and has functioned as a graphic designer in her own business. She is particularly interested in the combination of traditional graphic technologies with the latest graphic design software as well as the new technology's wider implications. Satu Ilta's 5-year lectorship at the University of Art and Design Helsinki began in the fall of 2003.
Satu Ilta's teaching areas include IT driver's licenses, Graphic Technology, Publishing and Image Processing Software as well as the Electronic Publication Design course modules. The teaching aims at giving students such a comprehensive grasp of contemporary printing and software technology that they will consider technology as a tool, not an obstacle, in their own graphical design endeavours.
