Brigitte Borja de Mozota | Biography
Brigitte Borja is an Assistant Professor in Management Science - Maître de Conférences Habilité à Diriger des Recherches (HDR) - at the University of Paris X Nanterre. She is in charge of the new master program in Design and Strategy opening September 2005 in partnership with the Paris design school ESAG Penninghen.
She teaches in Paris X University
- Marketing, design, innovation and strategy at graduate level
- Design and Design Management in the MBA International Luxury Brands Management at ESSEC
- Design management at postgraduate level at the Université de Nancy 2 in a program on “Design and Quality “named “DESS Management du Design et de la Qualité“.
She specializes in research pertaining to design management since 1985.
Co-editor of the Handbook of Design Management (Blackwell 1990), she is the author of the reference book “Design Management“ French Editions d’Organisation.

She started
- in 2004 seminars of continuing education for “in house “ designers on managing a design department
- in 2002 a Design Management Magazine for disseminating research and best practices both initiatives with the support of the Centre Design Rhone Alpes in Lyon (www.cdra.asso.fr)
She has written numerous research articles and is a reviewer for the Design Journal and on design issues for Revue Française de Gestion, Decisions Marketing, AFM. Her current research is focused on the theme of design value and design evaluation.
She is affiliated to two research laboratories in management science: Grefige at Université Nancy 2 and Ceros Université Paris X Nanterre working with PhD students on Design Management thesis.
She has been a member of the Design Management Institute (DMI Boston USA) Board of Advisors since 1995. In 1994, she organized and chaired the Sixth International Forum on Design Management Education and Research, held in Paris.
She was appointed as Chair of the Research Advisory Council for DMI in 1998. She is in charge of organizing the Academic Forum: 1998 Pratt Institute, 2000 in Frankfurt, 2002 in Boston, 2004 Seoul and editor of the Academic Review of the Design Management Journal (next to be named The Journal of Design Management Research). She has set up for DMI its international scientific Committee.
She received the DMI highest award “DMI Life fellow” in 2004 in recognition of her role in research for DMI and the design profession.
She is a founding member and sits on the Board of the European Academy of Design (EAD). She is a board member and founder of the design association “Cercle du Design et de la Marque“ in France.
In 2002, she was nominated as expert for OHMI (Office of Harmonization of Interior Markets ) European commission office for trademarks and designs (Alicante).
