| My thesis for the MFA-degree is about
studio glass. I have approached the subject by discribing shortly the history
of studio glass, studying my own work within this concept and explaining
my personal influences and motives.
I studied glass blowing in Seridan College,
Canada 1994-96. Practicing this skill has been the spine of my thesis.
I create by capturing the movement of the molten glass, maintaining flowing,
living forms. My pieces are colourful and expressive, inspired by the glass
material. I enjoy working on small production objects as well as unique
art work, having these two directions side by side. My final exhibition,
titled "Alive", was at Into gallery, Helsinki 20.5.-1.6. 1997.
Lopputyöni taiteen maisterin tutkintoa varten
kertoo studiolasista. Lähestyin aihetta kertomalla lyhyesti studiolasin
historiasta, pohdin omaa työskentelyäni historian valossa ja
siirryin kuvaamaan työtäni henkilökohtaisella tasolla.
Opiskelin lasinpuhallusta Sheridan Collegessa,
Kanadassa 1994-96. Pidin tämän taidon omaksumista avain-asiana
myös lopputyössäni. Noudatan työskentelyssäni
ns. harkittua epäkontrollia, jossa muoto on huolella tiukennettu,
mutta joka sallii lasin käyttäytyä oman luonteensa mukaisesti.
Esineeni ovat värikkäitä ja
ekspressiivisiä, lasimateriaalin inspiroimia. Työskentelen rinnan
sekä pientuotanto- että uniikkiesineistön parissa. Lopputyönäyttelyni
"Elossa"
oli Into galleriassa 20.5.-1.6. 1997.
