OLIVER WHELAN

DESCIPTION OF WORK

My most recent work questions the inherent nature of painting and its processes. The painting world has its own reality and history, as a process it has projected us forward into a virtual world, giving us a sense of reality, both learnt and imagined.

The way in which the painter operates within a formalist space is examined, through the medium of digital imaging and photography. Digital imaging allows for different vantagepoint of surface, space, and time. One, which, in the case of painting, reveals the painting experience in its totality, stretching time and space. Allowing for a deeper relationship with the making.
